History of AMBRA Group The beginning of the AMBRA group dates back to the early 1990s. AMBRA has been specialising in production and distribution of wine since 1994. In the very same year the company also gained an industry specific investor - Sektkellerei Schloss Wachencheim AG (which assumed 25% of its shares as part of increase of the company's share capital). The gaining an industry specific investor, which is a world leader in production and distribution of sparkling wines was a turning point in the heretofore activity, as well as an impulse for further growth of the company and the AMBRA Group. In subsequent years AMBRA increased its share capital on five occasions, while SSW consistently continued to increase its involvement. In 2004 the German firm became sole shareholder in the company. Thanks to the funds provided this way the company built an all new distribution system and a production facility in Wola Duża near Biłgoraj. The consistent strategy of market expansion, the know-how gained from the industry specific shareholder, the modern production process, as well as the development and promotion of such brands as Dorato, Fresco, and Piccolo, put the company at the end of the 1990s in position of leader in the domestic wine market. The achievement of such high a position was very much helped by the acquisition of wine brands (mainly Cin&Cin which currently is a leader in the wine market, and also the MichelAngelo brand). In 2003 AMBRA made a strategic decision on expanding into foreign markets of Central and Eastern Europe. AMBRA took over majority share packages in Soare Sekt (Czech Republic) and Karom Drinks (Romania). Next year - i.e. in 2004 AMBRA added another Polish company to the Group - i.e. Vinex Slaviantsi Poland Sp. z o.o. - a distributor of Bulgarian wines. AMBRA S.A. assumed 51% of shares in that company. |
